charming rural town

1.5 miles (4 minute drive/30 minute walk) from Hartree Estates

Biggar is a quaint and charming rural town located in the Scottish Southern Uplands. It is perfectly located with Edinburgh airport and train station 50 minutes from Hartree Estates, and Glasgow little more than an hour away. In half an hour you could be in the picturesque Peebles walking alongside the River Tweed, and in a matter of hours the Highlands and Islands. St Andrews Links, the ‘home of golf’ and one of the oldest golf courses in the world is less than 2 hours away.

Biggar itself nestles among rolling hills and has spectacular views of Culter Fell and Tinto Hill. A climb to the top of either provide impressive views over the Clyde valley. There are many excellent scenic walks to explore through the Biggar Country Path network, and an abundance of Scottish wildlife to capture on your camera. Biggar’s old medieval market town hosts a variety of shops including book, toy and craft stores, groceries, bakeries and florists, award winning fish and chippies and a legendary ice cream shop. Look out for the Biggar Little Festival of Arts in October and the famous Biggar Bonfire at Hogmanay.
